Spooky Podcast Roundup

by Jasmine Rosenbalm

Listed below are some of the spookiest podcasts we've found on the Internet. Are you able to listen to these frightening tales before bedtime?

1. No Sleep Podcast

Season 4 Episode 15 – Halloween 2014

The first story The End of Hallows Eve brought the child in me out and gave details that most kids can relate to when it comes to trick or treating, except with a surprise ending. The third story It Doesn’t Stop after Halloween starts at 00:40:50 in the podcast. As I listened, it gave me chills and was definitely a story I would tell to my friends. It was incredibly creepy and reminded me of the movie Sinister that came out in 2012.

2. Park Predator

The Hikers

This particular podcast was based on a real life, unsolved murder of two women in the Shenandoah National Park in 1996. This podcast goes the distance when describing the backgrounds of the victims, their families, and the possible suspects. As the podcast progresses you go through the entire crime/investigative process.

3. The Halloween Haunt

Haunted Houses by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This five minute podcast is a poem about haunted houses and the experiences you’ll endure. The narrator has such a smooth and sly voice I found myself just picturing my own haunted house, what it would look like, and even experiencing the fear factor. I was completely engulfed in the podcast that once it was over, I realized I had goose bumps all over.

4. Astonishing Legends

Sam the Sandown Clown

This podcast really had me captivated in the world of Sandown, England in 1973. In this town of 5,000 people, there was a story circulating about a clown hanging out at a swamp bog where he that had met with two 7-year-old children. They conversed for 30 minutes in a metal shack. Later, when the children went back to the location the shack had disappeared. This pre-“It” era clown had me wanting to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. I will definitely be coming back for more.
