Welcome to the Rushville Public Library
"A library book...is not, then, an article of mere consumption but fairly of capital, and often in the case of professional men, setting out in life, is their only capital." — Thomas Jefferson
Summer Reading - Treasure of the Amochlee
No one knew earthly (or unearthly) treasures better than the ancient Mayans. "Amochlee" is a form of the ancient Mayan word for "book," and where better to find treasure than in books and stories? That's why the Rushville Public Library invites folks of all ages to join our summer reading program, "Treasure of the Amochlee". Registration starts May 14 or any day after that. The program continues until July 7.
Raise to Raze Fund
We have terrific news for the future of our library, but we still need YOUR help!
Thanks to a gracious gesture on the part of Mayor Merv Bostic, the City of Rushville razed the buildings next to the Rushville Public Library in November! This has paved the way for the library to expand which will benefit the entire community!

History of the Rushville Public Library Building
(The following was written by library director Sue Otte for a special section of the Rushville Republican in the spring of 2011.)
The Rushville Public Library celebrated its 100th year of existence in 2010. While proud of that milestone, this celebration overshadowed another library anniversary – the 80th birthday of our library building.
